Jeremiah is 9 Months Old Today!

Actually, he was 9 months old yesterday.  He wasn't feeling cooperative yesterday to let me write a blog post.

It was also the most difficult month so far to get pictures. He is far too mobile. So we did our best!

In his defense, he had a big day with no naps. He had a doctor appointment where they even took blood (poor baby!), 9 month pictures, and a trip to the gym daycare. He's also teething big time - his left center upper tooth looks like it could come through any moment. But the biggest problem was just that he doesn't want to sit still - almost ever.  He is mobile and he loves it!

He's had a really big month! As previously mentioned, he is mobile. He crawls like a champ! First a few steps at a time, crying each one with the effort. But now he moves from room to room with ease. He also pulls himself up and walks along furniture!  He's a very curious little boy - loves to explore and discover things.

He had a cold for a couple weeks. It led to his first urgent care trip when he went half a day without taking more than an ounce of milk. It also majorly impacted his sleep. He went from waking up once or twice a night to about 6 times a night.

His primary food source is still breastmilk. However, we have started supplementing with formula for one or two bottles a day; work has been so crazy that I had to cut back on my pumping. He also eats 2-3 solid meals a day, mostly vegetable purees.  He does love eggs, sweet potato, avocado, and banana.  He also likes squash, applesauce, bread, cheerios, and puffs. He doesn't seem to like peaches, peas, or beans much.  He often gets cereal mixed with milk and one of these items. We tried yogurt mixed with applesauce and cereal once, but he didn't seem to like it at all.  I still make most of his food, but he also gets some store bought. Particularly in the meat blends since I haven't started pureeing that.  He's had chicken and rice, turkey, and vegetable beef. He's also had a little chicken and turkey off my plate. He loves drinking water from his sippy cup!

He had his 9 month appointment yesterday and is doing great! Here are his stats:
Weight:  25 pounds, 6 ounces     95th percentile
Length: 28.75 inches       75th percentile
Head Circumference: 19 inches    97th percentile

So he is definitely a growing boy! Most of his clothes are now 18 months! When he's in disposable diapers, he's still in a size 4.  All of his shoes are too small as I discovered yesterday, so I don't know what size he's in those. :)

He still babbles a lot, but no actual words.

He loves a variety of toys - his musical walker, stacking rings, etc. But most of all, he loves playing with other people and the cats.

He's got a wonderful disposition - easy to smile for people, sweet, cuddly, and just wonderful.

He went to Indiana this past month and while there went swimming for the first time! He wasn't sure what he thought about it!

As far as development, they did an assessment at his 9 month appointment.  He is doing far above average in gross motor skills, fine motor skills and problem solving.  Also above average in personal-social development.  In communication, he is in the top of the average area - the top level of where they consider "close to the cutoff."

I can't believe my baby is 9 months old already.  He is truly the light of mine and John's life.  He is such a sweet, happy, energetic, laughing gift from God, and I can't imagine life without him!

  1. Such a cutie! You have a beautiful little man!

  2. I love the last picture! I now have to duct tape C's monthly stickers on her! Happy 9 Months!

  3. Aww you can just see he is teething in all these pictures. What a big boy! My little guy is going to be 6 months next week and his 9 month clothes are getting snug. I am not used to this because my first baby wore 9 month clothes when he was actually 9 months and so on. It's interesting trying to make the hand me downs work seasonally.
