Wedding Things

In addition to the people who made our wedding so special, here are some of the special details/fun pictures.
The programs that almost cost me my sanity...

My bouquet, made by my friend Jody

My friend did an amazing job on the flowers! We spent a Friday night and part of a Saturday on them, but I loved how they turned out. (And by "we," I mean I was there while she did 99% of the work. My 1% involved cutting wire or something....) We needed to use fake flowers anyway because my mom is so allergic. But it worked out well!
Two adorable flower girls needed two flower baskets! We got the baskets from David's Bridal so the ribbon would match the bridesmaid dresses exactly, but you can't tell from this picture. Petals were from Hobby Lobby.

Shoes #1 for pre-wedding pictures

My ceremony/reception shoes with our rings on them!
I was shoe shopping and having trouble deciding between pink shoes and white shoes.  I also had trouble finding shoes the right height. (I didn't want to tower over John in the pictures the way I would in the white shoes.) Eventually I decided that if there was one day I was entitled to get two pairs of shoes for, it was our wedding day. So I had the white ones that I LOVED from DSW and then the pink ones from Payless.

Saturday Night Thoughts

Random thoughts from this Saturday night?

-I did my parents' taxes and my taxes tonight. I now have a headache, but I'm glad to be done.

-I think my kitten might have ADD. But she's not afraid of me anymore, so that's a plus.

-Everything's a toy to her. From my computer cord to my cell phone charger to my tax forms to my barette..... if I ever get another kitten (not likely at this point!), I shall not buy him or her any toys.  It's obviously not necessary.

-I am not loving John's new work schedule. I miss him! (He works 4 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. 4 days a week.)

-Gilmore Girls is quality television.

-I found some new settings on my phone. Such as the one below, called Pinhole, where the lighting is cool. Love it. :)

Five Question Friday - 2/24/2012

It's been awhile since I've done a 5QF, but the questions looked fun this week, so I decided to participate. :) If you want to link up, head to Mama's blog here!

1. What's your favorite way to spend down time (alone or with a significant other)?
This varies a lot depending on my mood. Sometimes I prefer to go out and do things, but given how busy things have been, if I'm alone, I probably would love to just be reading.  If I'm with John, I would want to be cuddled up on the couch watching a good movie.  Maybe I'll be able to find time for both of those in the next few days!

2. Are you the kind of person that wants things more as soon as you know you can't have it?
No, I'm more pragmatic. If I know I can't have something, I tend to move on.

3. If you were given $1000 to spend on yourself, what would you buy?
If I really had an extra $1,000, I doubt I would spend much of it on myself. :) I'm more of a saver. However, for the sake of this blog, I would probably buy a few new outfits and a vacation.  Oh, or could I use it to buy like housecleaning services for a year or something? If so, I'd be seriously tempted!

4. Do you ever go out to eat by yourself?
Not very often, but occasionally. Usually it's if I have somewhere to be with like an hour to kill in between. Or a coffee shop place like Panera, I will occasionally go to alone. When we didn't have internet at home, I would go to Panera, get a coffee, and blog or whatever.

5. What company would you want to do a blog review for?
Hmm.... Barnes and Noble. I just got a Nook for my birthday (after years of saying I would never want an e-reader!) and I would love to review it. Plus I'm sure they'd give me some free downloads to review. :)

What I'm Loving Wednesday! February 15, 2012

What I'm loving this Wednesday.....

Tonight when I got home from work, I had flowers from my husband waiting. Also, 3 birthday cards. I like birthday mail.

I've won several games of Words with Friends the last few days. My competitive side is definitely loving that.

My husband gets to transfer to a different role at his company that should make him much happier and less stressed!

And.... my kittens. Even though one hates me, they're so cute. And they love each other..... at the moment.

What are you loving this Wednesday?

Morning of the Wedding - Getting Ready!

After the bachelorette party, I went back to the house I was staying at with Ashley (from Alabama), Linda, Jody, and Dyanna for a "sleepover" and to make ourselves gorgeous in the morning. The rest of the ladies would meet us there early on in the day. They had decorated the house "in my honor."
When we got there, I tried on my dress again. (The lady who altered it was there, so that may have been why? Or maybe I just wanted to. It's been 5 months....)  The dog ran on it twice. Luckily, no paw prints. :) I maybe would have cried! My dress was slightly long, but beautiful.  We also reviewed my gifts from the party because they all wanted to see. My 10 year old Memorial Flower Attendant was in the room. This made me slightly uncomfortable. :)
I set my alarm for 6:30 to get up and start getting ready.  I couldn't sleep though! I remember posting on the Knot at around 12, "Hey.  I get married in 12 hours." I was so excited/nervous/etc. When my alarm went off at 6:30, I got up and showered. I didn't know it at the time, but apparently I was wrecking plans! Breakfast in bed for the bride had been planned. A special CD of specially selected music had been planned. Oops. :)
After I showered, I ate the delicious breakfast Jody had made for me, had 2 cups of coffee, and then the hair and makeup detail showed up.  One lady from church was did my hair, Dyanna's, and Camille's. Her friend did my sister-in-law Delia's (who came with my parents) and Ashley (from Alabama). Another lady I know from church did the other Ashley's hair, and mine and both Ashley's makeup.  My future (at that point) mother-in-law and sister-in-law were going to come over, but after some deliberation, they decided not to come. It was a confusing conversation that eventually one of my ladies handled for me. :)
Pictures of the beautification process. :)
It was a fun time of talking, drinking coffee, and                just looking forward to the day!
Camille and Ginger "crown" me!

It was really busy with all of us trying to stay on schedule!

Delia insisted on taking this picture as their is a princess on the wall behind me.

After I was ready, I left several of the ladies still finishing getting ready to head to the church with my parents and Delia. It was almost showtime!
